MEET JD

J.D. Hughes, Ed.S., has been teaching elementary physical education since 1995 in Douglasville, GA. Along with teaching full time, J.D. also works as an educational consultant for PE2theMax LLC, presenting at state, district and national conventions as well as conducting staff development workshops for school districts across the nation. J.D. is a National Board Certified Teacher; holds a Master’s and Education Specialist’s degree in Health and PE from the State University of West Georgia; and a BS degree in Health and PE from Kennesaw State University.

J.D. Hughes is the author of seven books and four DVDs including No Standing Around in My Gym, PE2theMax, PE2theMax II, PE², HyPEd Up I, HyPEd Up II and PE2theMax’s Greatest Hits! In addition, he has been the featured presenter and co-presenter at more than 200+ local, state, and national workshops and conventions sharing his ideas and enthusiasm for teaching with thousands of health and physical educators.

J.D. Hughes was recognized as the 2004-2005 and 2014-2015 Georgia Elementary Physical Education Teacher of the Year and was also awarded the 2014-2015 Southern District Elementary Physical Education Teacher of the Year. He is passionate, constantly striving to look for new ways to improve his teaching, to share his practice, and strengthen the teaching profession.

I dedicate this site to the God-given people in my life, my wife Beth, daughters Janie, Josie, my son Stevenson, my mom, Sylvia and to my late Father, Jerry Hughes. Thank you for your hugs, kisses, encouragement, and support.

I also dedicate this to all of our passionate Physical Education Specialists who strive to improve themselves and challenge their students despite budget cuts, poor schedules, oversized classes and lack of support.
